Darrett Dean Lepel is a son, grandson, nephew, brother, and friend. He expressed himself with art, poetry, and music. He had dreams of joining the military and becoming a world class chef. He would share or give anything to someone in need as he demonstrated when he received his license and became an organ donor. Darrett is our true hero and we are so very proud to have shared him for 17 years, 2 months, and 3 days. However, Darrett will not get to do the things he loves or dreams as his life abruptly ended while a backseat passenger in a 2006 auto crash. Darrett’s passion for life, his fun nature, and loving heart continues to be shared through this scholarship.

The Darrett Dean Lepel Memorial Scholarship Fund was started by Darrin Deen in 2007. Our goal is to reward a senior for their safe driving and positive influences. There are many generous donations each year, which has allowed us to offer all graduating Baca County seniors the opportunity to receive this scholarship.
